We are currently seeking a skilled and committed individual to join our team as a:
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
- Permanent Full Time (34 hours a week)
- $130,618 - $158,917
- Work Mode: Hybrid (50% or more remote)

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance is responsible for strategic budget planning, ensuring fiscal accountability, and providing financial leadership for Hamilton Child and Family Supports (HCFS). This role ensures that financial strategies align with the organization’s business objectives and comply with all legal requirements. The Director of Finance is responsible for shaping HCFS’s long-term financial direction, managing and diversifying investments and reserves, promoting operational cost efficiency, and fostering funding and service partnerships with the Ministry and other agencies to support the organization’s financial sustainability.
This role also provides strategic advice on future financial needs, as well as assessing the impact of emerging trends, risks, and priorities. The Director of Finance participates in service planning, human resource planning, and budget preparation activities, ensuring alignment with Ministry funding allocations.
The Director of Finance oversees all financial operations, including payroll, accounting operations, financial systems auditing, and financial and organizational risk functions. The Director of Finance also oversees the operations of the Maintenance department.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Finance serves as a key resource to the Board and its committees.
Key Qualifications:
- Professional Accounting Designation (Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or Certified General Account) or Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- University Degree in Finance, Business Administration or other similar field of study
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in progressively responsible roles and at least 2 years in a Senior Leadership role, preferably with experience in Child Welfare or other not-for-profit organization
- Advanced knowledge of legislation governing accounting, payroll, privacy, security and confidentiality, CFS Act, and OACAS and Ministry guidelines
- An advanced knowledge and use of accounting software Oracle Accounting and Excel in all accounting functions, reporting, etc.
